Weather Alert Day: Severe thunderstorms expected

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Windy and warm conditions expected Monday across much of Nebraska. A strong storm system will begin to move across the plains today and trigger Severe thunderstorms this afternoon and continuing into Tuesday morning. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible. Windy and cooler temperatures for Tuesday with showers and thunderstorms continuing. Wednesday should be dry, but it will be windy and cooler. Even cooler temperatures arrive for the end of the week with another chance of rain on Thursday.

An enhanced risk of severe weather for much of Nebraska Monday afternoon and Monday night. Numerous severe thunderstorms will be possible with large hail 2 inches in diameter or greater. A few strong tornadoes possible in parts of central Nebraska late this afternoon into the overnight hours. Damaging winds of 60 mph or greater possible as well.
