Andrew Gendi, who will be playing Division II ball at Felician next year, tossed a complete game, four-hit shutout, powering Matawan to a 9-0 victory over St. John Vianney in Holmdel.
Gendi, who did it with just 100 pitches, struck out nine along the way. Matawan (6-0) broke through in the top of the fourth by putting up a three-spot for the game’s first runs.
Brian McCartin had a monster day for the Huskies, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI’s for the winners.
Nicholas Mirto had a pair of hits for St. John Vianney, which fell to 2-4.
