'Explosive device' found in Meriden neighborhood

Officials are checking to make sure there aren't any other bombs in the area.

MERIDEN, Conn. — A bomb squad detonated an explosive device found in a Meriden neighborhood Friday morning.

Someone in the area found the explosive on the sidewalk near a home on Hanover Street near Randolph Ave. and reported it to police, according to officials. Police responded to the scene around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

The scene is just west of downtown in Meriden. 

A FOX61 crew on scene heard two booms; one for the bomb squad to test the device and a second to detonate it.

No injuries have been reported.

Officials checked to make sure there weren't any other bombs in the area.
