Terre Haute is one step closer to having a new downtown hotel. Wednesday, the Terre Haute Redevelopment Commission approved the release of proposals for developing the property.

The commission unanimously approved the move. Companies will have until early to mid summer to submit their proposals.

An official with the commission says he's unsure of the number of proposals they may receive, however, he says all bids will receive equal weight.

"We feel that we are in the position now where the city has so much momentum going that now is the time to capitalize on it," said Jordan Marvel, the executive director of the Terre Haute Redevelopment Commission.

After this step is complete, the commission will open the bids. The commission meets again in May.
