A 19-year-old San Antonio man is behind bars after he was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl he met through a dating app, law enforcement officials said. Enrique Gonzalez faces charges after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office alleged that he had been picking the girl up from her home for weeks following their connection on the app "HUD".

In a statement obtained by KENS5, officials reported that Gonzalez believed the teenager was an 18-year-old woman. The two had been meeting up every weekend since their first online encounter a month ago. He was taken into custody late Monday night after the victim's father was alerted by a friend of the girl, who had reached out due to concern for her well-being.

The disturbing situation came to light after the young victim texted a friend that she felt sick while with Gonzalez and subsequently shared her location. According to a FOX San Antonio report, when the friend couldn't make contact with the girl, she alerted the girl’s father about her unsettled condition and whereabouts.

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office said that Gonzalez returned the young girl home the next day. The arrest followed and now he will be charged with sexual assault of a child. More details about the investigation and legal proceedings are expected to emerge as the case develops.
