INVOLVED. THE SECOND INCIDENT IN DOWNTOWN, WHERE JUST A WEEK AGO, POLICE CHIEF MEDINA TALKED ABOUT HIS TEAM GETTING GUN VIOLENCE UNDER CONTROL ON CENTRAL. REPORTER LISA MUNOZ SHOWS US HOW DANGEROUS THE AREA CAN STILL BE. WELL, THIS PAST WEEKEND, A SHOOTING HAPPENED RIGHT HERE ON THIS CORNER IN DOWNTOWN ALBUQUERQUE, LEAVING PEOPLE WORRIED ABOUT COMING BACK TO THIS AREA SATURDAY NIGHT, POLICE ARRESTED A TEEN MOMENTS AFTER THIS HAPPENED. BODY CAMERA VIDEO SHOWS ZANE KATZENBERGER FLEEING WHEN POLICE CATCH UP TO HIM ON THE CORNER WITH THE GUN IN HIS WAISTBAND. THESE ARE THE EXACT INDIVIDUALS THAT WE’RE FOCUSING TO TAKE OFF THE STREETS. INCIDENTS LIKE THIS AND THE SHOOTING AT KNOCK OUTS THAT HAPPENED JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO, IS WHAT BUSINESSES ON CENTRAL SAY IS HURTING THEM ALL. MY CUSTOMERS FEEDBACK IS LIKE THEY INSECURE ON THE SIDE OF FEMALES LIKE YOU, JUST LIKE THEY DON’T WANT TO COME IN BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE TOO MANY HOMELESS OR SOMETHING’S GOING TO BE HAPPEN. MANUEL DIAZ OWNS A SUSHI BAR ON CENTRAL. MY WINDOW IS BROKEN THIS LAST YEAR THREE TIMES. LIKE, COME ON MAN, HE SAYS. HE’S EVEN HAD TO START SHUTTING DOWN EARLY A NORTH SHORE IN ANOTHER. IT’S BECOME NORMAL FOR ME. BUT FOR PEOPLE LIKE CUSTOMERS. SO THEY DON’T USED TO DO THESE THINGS LIKE IT’S SAD BECAUSE TRY TO GET MY BUSINESS, KEEP GOING AND WITH THE SITUATIONS DON’T HELP. IN THE VIDEO FROM SATURDAY, YOU CAN SEE POLICE LIGHTS IN THE BACKGROUND AS THE SHOOTING HAPPENS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COPS. ARE YOU SERIOUS? BUT THAT DOESN’T SEEM TO STOP THEM FROM PULLING OUT THEIR GUNS. SO PEOPLE IN GENERAL START DOING CRIME BECAUSE THEY JUST LIKE IT’S NOT NO BIG DEAL FOR FOR THEM. LIKE GOING TO JAIL TODAY IF THEY GOT IT GOT AND BY TOMORROW, THE NEXT DAY, STAY OUT. POLICE SAY KATZENBERGER IS FACING FOUR CHARGES, INCLUDING AGGRAVATED BATTERY AND NEGLIGENT USE OF A DEADLY WEAPON. Just a week ago, Chief Harold Medina talked about his team getting gun violence control on Central Avenue. This past weekend, a shooting happened on Central in Downtown Albuquerque, leaving people worried about coming back around this area.Police body camera footage shows, Zane Katzenberger, 18, fleeing after the shooting before police catch him on the corner with a gun in his waistband. With incidents like this happening now and just a few months ago at Knockouts, businesses we spoke to say crime is hurting their business. "All of my customers' feedback are feeling insecure. They don't want to come in because there's too many homeless people or something bad is going to happen," said Manuel Diaz, owner of Diaz Kitchen & Sushi Bar on Central.Diaz said he's also experienced the crime by almost getting his car stolen and even having to shut down early. "I got my windows broken just last year, three times, like come on man," Diaz said. "Another shooting, it's become normal for me, but customers who are not used to these things it's sad. "Kids or people in general are still doing crime because it's not a big deal for them. They're going to jail today, and by tomorrow, the next day, they're out," Diaz said. Police say Katzenberger is facing four charges, including aggravated battery and negligent use of a deadly weapon. Police also found the second shooter in the video, taking him to the Bernalillo County Juvenile Detention Center. In a video taken of the shooting Saturday night, you can see police lights in the background of the video, even a comment from someone nearby stating, "Oh, right in front of the cops, are you serious?"
