NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — 51 restaurants across Hampton Roads are participating in the LGBT Life Center’s annual Dining Out For Life (DOFL) fundraiser on Thursday, April 25.

The event, now in its 21st year, helps pay for HIV care and other LGBTQ+-related services provided by the center, including housing, mental health care and other programs. Participating restaurants will donate at least 33% of their sales to the center for the program, but some are donating 50%.

Dining Out For Life has returned to its full capacity for 2024, after being adapted following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This year’s event signifies not only the revival of the fundraiser but also a broader symbol of community resilience and solidarity,” said Stacie Walls, CEO of LGBT Life Center. “While the restaurant industry looks different than it did at the start of this event, we are incredibly grateful for the support of the new, revived restaurant landscape.”

Those who wish to participate simply need to eat at one of the 50 restaurants across the Hampton Roads region participating in the event this year.

There will also be an opportunity for people to volunteer at the event. Applications to volunteer can be found here.

If you can’t make it out but still want to help, DOFL is also accepting donations on their website here.
