STILLMAN VALLEY, Ill. (WTVO) — Police say a woman was high on methamphetamine Sunday night and nearly caused a crash near a Stillman Valley Casey’s General Store, and was seen in an intoxicated state inside the business.

According to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, a concerned citizen reported that a woman driving a white Kia Soul had almost hit a vehicle near the intersection of Rural Road and Roosevelt Street around 9:28 p.m.

Police also learned that the woman had appeared intoxicated while inside the Casey’s at 105 S. Rural Road.

Authorities identified the suspect as Sarah Schwartz, 37, of Oregon.

She was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.

While she was at the Ogle County Jail, she was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Endangering the Life or Health of a Child.

Ogle County authorities said that “per the Pre-Trial Fairness Act (SAFE-T Act) the aforementioned charges are not detainable, and Schwartz was released from the Ogle County Jail with a Notice to Appear” at a future court date.
