An alleged shoot out between two teens leaves one of them dead and a friend in critical condition. Tuscaloosa Police were called out to the scene of a car crash around 11pm Friday. When they arrived on scene they found one teenager dead inside the vehicle. Tuscaloosa County’s Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) was called to investigate the death. Upon investigation a suspect and several persons of interest were identified.

Investigators released a statement Saturday noting what they believe led to the shooting. It was stated that an occupant of one car was shot. That shot killed the teen, causing the car to crash into a residence located on the 2200 block of Reece Blvd in Tuscaloosa. A second person in the car was also shot and is currently in critical condition at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Officers say the scene was extensive and both TPD and TCSO processed the scene together. After gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses a suspect and several others were located.

The suspect is also a minor. Therefore no names will be released.

The teenage suspect has been charged with Felony Murder and First-degree robbery and is being held behind bars without bond. No information about the robbery was given. The investigation is ongoing. Officers say more changes are possible.
