MINUTES. THANKS, BRIAN. IN MONROEVILLE, A WATER BREAK FORCED THE EVACUATION OF A SENIOR CARE HOME THIS MORNING. THE BREAK WAS DISCOVERED JUST BEFORE 5:00 AT INDEPENDENCE COURT ALONG CENTER ROAD. CREWS ON THE SCENE FOUND THE FIRST FLOOR FLOODED, REALIZED THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION, AND CALLED FOR BACKUP ELECTRIC, A MAIN LINE WATER. PIPE COMING INTO THE FACILITY BURST NEXT TO THE ELECTRICAL ROOM AND TOOK OUT ALL THE WATER AS WELL AS CAUSED THE DAMAGE, AND ALSO TOOK THE ELECTRICITY OUT. IN ALL, 43 TENANTS WERE TAKEN TO THE MONROEVILLE SENIOR CENTER. SOME WERE REUNITED WITH FAMILY AND OTHERS WERE TAKEN TO NEARB

A water main break is forcing crews to move nearly four dozen patients from a care home in Monroeville.The municipality's police chief, Doug Cole, told Pittsburgh's Action News 4 that the break happened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday at the Independence Court in the 200 block of Center Road.The break flooded the first floor, including an electrical room. Forty-three total patients were evacuated to the Senior Center in Monroeville.A WTAE photojournalist at the care home Saturday morning found medics and firefighters responding.
