New York Man Resentenced for Role in Health Care, Tax Scheme

Aleksandr Pikus has been resentenced to nine years in prison and ordered to pay $39 million in restitution for his role in a health care kickback and tax conspiracy, according to the Justice Department on Wednesday.

Pikus arranged a scheme to refer Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries to health-care providers in exchange for illegal kickbacks. The health-care providers submitted millions in false claims to the Medicare and Medicaid programs, said the DOJ.
