At least three people were hospitalized after they were attacked by their family dog at a Van Nuys residence on Monday night, April 1, authorities said.

Around 10 p.m., a 911 caller reported that their dog had bitten a few family members at a home along the 13800 block of Runnymede Street, according to Los Angeles Police spokesperson Officer Rosario Cervantes.

A man, a woman and a young boy were taken to a hospital for various injuries, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson Nicholas Prange. Information on the victims or an update on their conditions was not available on Wednesday.

A fourth victim declined to be taken to a hospital.

Authorities did not release information on what breed of dog was involved, though Key News, a news organization the Southern California News Group often works with, described the animal as a pit bull.

A Los Angeles Animal Services crew was called in to handle the dog, though information on what will happen to the animal was not immediately available on Wednesday.
