Latest 76ers News
Joel Embiid : Will play in Game 5
Embiid (knee/migraine) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks. Embiid has been upgraded from questionable to available Tuesday despite dealing with a left knee injury and a migraine. The superstar big man is averaging 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.3 minutes across the first four games of the series.
Kelly Oubre : Set to play Tuesday
Oubre (illness) is available for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports. Oubre has been upgraded from probable to available Tuesday despite dealing with an illness. However, it is possible that the 27-year-old forward sees reduced playing time compared to his 40 minutes in Game 4.
Kelly Oubre : Probable with illness
Oubre (illness) is probable for Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Knicks, Tim Bontemps of ESPN.com reports. Oubre did not attend the morning shootaround, but the 76ers are still expecting him to play Tuesday evening. Oubre was sharp in Game 4, producing 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 40 minutes.
Joel Embiid : Misses shootaround Tuesday
Embiid (knee) sat out of Tuesday's shootaround due to a migraine, Ky Carlin of USA Today reports. There's been no change to his status for Tuesday's Game 5 versus the Knicks, so Embiid remains questionable to play due to his left knee soreness. Despite the questionable tag, it would be a major surprise if Embiid was held out with Philadelphia's season on the line.
Joel Embiid : Listed questionable for Tuesday
Embiid is questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Knicks due to left knee injury recovery. Embiid has averaged 35.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks in 40.3 minutes over the first four games of the opening-round series. However, the reigning MVP, who missed two months during the regular season after undergoing meniscus surgery, continues to be listed as questionable and has struggled in every fourth quarter thus far. With the 76ers facing elimination in New York on Tuesday, it'd be shocking if Embiid didn't suit up.
De'Anthony Melton : Gets light role in return
Melton (back) tallied zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt), one rebound and one assist in seven minutes Sunday in the 76ers' 97-92 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the first-round playoff series. After missing the first two games of the playoffs due to back injury recovery and then not leaving the bench in Game 3 in a coach's decision, Melton made his series debut Sunday. Melton didn't make much of an impact during his limited time on the floor, and he's uncertain to be included in the rotation in Game 5 on Tuesday, when the 76ers will look to stave off elimination.
Kelly Oubre : Strong from deep in Game 4 defeat
Oubre ended Sunday's 97-92 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 19 points (7-15 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal across 40 minutes. Oubre had another strong offensive outing for Philadelphia in Sunday's contest, connecting on a team-high-tying trio of threes while ending one point shy of the 20-point mark in a losing effort. Oubre has been a nice third option for the 76ers in the first-round series behind Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey, tallying at least 15 points in two of the four games and surpassing the double-digit mark in three outings.
Tyrese Maxey : Boosts offense in balanced outing
Maxey had 23 points (8-21 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, six assists and one steal over 43 minutes during Sunday's 97-92 loss to the Knicks in Game 4 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Maxey provided Philadelphia with a well-rounded outing in the Game 4 defeat, connecting on a team-high-tying trio of threes while ending as one of two players with 20 or more points. Maxey has been one of the 76ers' best offensive producers in the first-round series, surpassing the 20-point mark in all four outings. Expect Maxey to continue to produce like he has all season, and maybe even more, in a win-or-go-home Game 5 against New York.
