‘Buffalo’s Best Batman’ to host food drive for FeedMore WNY

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — “Buffalo’s Best Batman” will be celebrating 10 years of charity work in the area by hosting a food drive benefitting FeedMore WNY on Saturday, April 27.

The not-so-secret identity of the Queen City’s Caped Crusader is William Lorenz Jr. — an attorney by day. This year marks the fourth time Lorenz will be hosting the Superhero Food Drive with FeedMore.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside Dash’s Market at 1170 Hertel Ave.

Lorenz was named “Buffalo’s Best Batman” by the Buffalo & Erie County Public Library in 2014, and over the last decade, has volunteered with organizations including Make-A-Wish, Hearts
for the Homeless, Buffalo Dream Center, and the Salvation Army.

He teamed up with FeedMore after volunteering at food pantries during the pandemic, starting the Superhero Food Drive in 2021. FeedMore PR manager Catherine Shick encouraged the public to support the food drive and commended Lorenz for his work.

“We are grateful for the continued support of attorney William Lorenz Jr. through the annual Superhero Food Drive,” Shick said in a release. “Through his decade of selfless charity work on behalf of the community, Lorenz truly embodies what it means to be a superhero.”

Lorenz was also asked to organize and perform in the first Buffalo Bisons’ Superhero Night in 2015, which raised thousands of dollars for Mental Health Advocates of WNY. In early 2019, Lorenz published a book about his journey, titled “The Ballad of Buffalo’s Best ‘Batman,'” with proceeds going to Mercy Flight.

Additionally, he has performed martial arts demonstrations in the U.S., Canada and Greece as Buffalo’s Best Batman.
