The Smashing Pumpkins are coming to Bangor.

The alternative rock band, known for such 90s albums as “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” and “Siamese Dream,” will play the Maine Savings Amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 4.

The hit band has never made an appearance in Bangor before. This summer’s appearance is part of the band’s North American leg of touring following a busy schedule in Europe during June and July.

Opening for the Smashing Pumpkins will be The Glorious Sons, a Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario.

Ticket sales will open on April 5 at 10 a.m.
