On Real Madrid's counter-attacking threat...

Worrying signs for Man City, it's a fine line they are walking.

Jack Grealish glides across the City turf and his shot goes wide, via a deflection off Dani Carvajal's leg. He initially thinks it's a goal-kick and is furious but the referee gives a corner.

Real clear the corner.

Mikel Arteta had his head in his hands after that chance for Gabriel Martinelli.

The Arsenal forward will probably feel he should have done a lot better with it.

That was excellent from Italian referee Daniele Orsato.

He allowed Manchester City to restart play on the halfway line even though Dani Carvajal was on the ground, apparently injured.

Orsato thought Carvajal was time-wasting and although Carlo Ancelotti and his coaching staff vented their anger when Kevin de Bruyne's shot was eventually saved, the Real Madrid defender recovered quickly enough not to need treatment.

Lunin has done well anticipating ball across the six-yard-box, he is cutting the ball out before it gets to the danger.

Real's Federico Valverde is picked out in acres of space on the corner of the box but his effort is blocked by Josko Gvardiol, who has been busy tonight.

Manuel Neuer wasn't comfortable!

Martin Odegaard's effort takes a slight deflection from the edge of the box and Neuer has to scramble across to his right to keep it out.

Moments later, Kai Havertz sneaks in behind and Neuer has to race off his line to close him down. The flag goes up for offside just after.

Rodri has not lost in his last 66 games for Manchester City since a game against Tottenham in February 2023.

Rodri swings in a cross which Erling Haaland jumps very high over Nacho to head down but Andriy Lunin, and not a City team-mate, gets to that knockdown.

Ben White is played in behind on the right but his dinked cross won't reach Kai Havertz. Nice move.

Now that's a proper Kevin de Bruyne chance. The City midfielder runs at Real's defence before hammering in a shot from outside the box, which is palmed away by a diving Andriy Lunin.
