A 39-year-old bartender from New Castle has claimed the first $150,000 prize in the Delaware Lottery scratch-off game “Platinum Payout.”

The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket from Tobacco Time in Bear.

"We congratulate this winner on her $150,000 win," said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery, in a press release. "Her story reflects the excitement our games bring to players.”

The woman claimed her prize from Delaware Lottery headquarters March 26.

When she scratched the ticket and saw that she had won, she was overwhelmed with excitement, shaking at the discovery, Keeley said.

The woman shared the news with her boyfriend first and is still deciding how to use her winnings.

She said she started playing the Delaware Lottery when she was 21 and typically buys five tickets at a time.

In the “Platinum Payout” game, one top prize of $150,000 remained as of April 1, Keeley said.
