It is not as stormy this morning since the latest storm system has moved out. Winds will be lighter today since it has pulled away from us.
It is a cooler start this morning since we are now behind a cold front but the chill still is not that bad with morning temperatures in the 40s and 50s. Expect another warm afternoon with highs reaching the 70s and 80s.
Skies will be in pretty good shape with minimal cloud cover. However, the break between systems will be brief as more moisture starts to move in by this evening. A few showers and storms arrive in the northwest corner of the area shortly before the sun goes down.
Showers and storms track west to east through the evening and into the overnight. As they approach Northeast Kansas a severe threat will develop. Large hail is the main threat but damaging winds are not completely out of the question.
Some storms could develop and dip farther south and east during the night into South Central and Eastern Kansas. This chance will continue into early Thursday.
Skies are looking drier as we go through Thursday afternoon. Another front moves in tomorrow too which will begin to cool temperatures back down and increase winds. Highs in the 50s will be widespread by Saturday.
There will be more chances for moisture too. A chance for rain showers Friday favors the northern half of the area.
Friday night and Saturday there will be an increasing chance for rain in the rest of the area. At the same time, some snow will attempt to mix with rain to the west but mainly in Northwest Kansas and Southwest Nebraska.
Skies dry back out by Sunday and rain chances do not look great Saturday so the weekend will not be a washout. Temperatures warm back up and return to normal by early next week.
