Milan design week 2024: ALL THE PROPOSALS FROM FASHION BRANDS, FROM HOME COLLECTIONS TO EVENTS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
There is less and less to go before the start of the eagerly awaited Milan Design Week 2024, which will take place in the Lombard capital from 15 to 21 April and will feature no less than 1,326 events scattered throughout the city.
The Design Week represents a moment of central importance for the entire city, which will be populated by numerous events scattered in almost every district, from the most central to the most peripheral, aimed at celebrating design in its entirety and its powerful attractive force, allowing enthusiasts to come together and take part in this unique project, with few equals in the world.
The projects selected through the Milan City Council’s call for entries numbered 182, representing a 3.4% increase compared to the previous year. Some of these projects are part of the Fuorisalone 2024 program, which runs alongside the Milan Design Week 2024, featuring a total of 778 events. Many of these events are reserved exclusively for guests, as they are hosted in private spaces, showrooms, or company venues.
However, what will the fashion brands propose during the Fuorisalone 2024 week?
Bottega veneta x Cassina and foundation le corbusier
Where? 1/3 Piazza San Fedele, Milan
When? From 16 to 20 April 2024
Bottega Veneta’s installation in collaboration with Cassina and Fondation Le Corbusier will be presented inside Palazzo San Fedele.
During Matthieu Blazy’s last fashion show for the brand, the star of the set design was Cassina’s LC14 Tabouret Cabanon stool, which has become a true legend, much more than just a design object.
Milan design week 2024: Prada Frames
During the Fuorisalone week, Prada will once again present Prada Frames, a three-day exhibition that blends the essence of the natural and private environment, offering a complete and layered experience.
The event has been organized by the design studio Forma Fantasma, with locations in Milan and Rotterdam, in collaboration with the Italian luxury maison. It will be open to visitors from April 14th to 16th at the Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, located via Gesù 5 in Milan.
The project to be presented during Milan Design Week 2024 will be titled “Being Home” and aims to convey the feeling of intimacy and belonging that our home should provide, thanks to the people we share it with or the memories we build there. In short, it is not about simulating being at home, but rather about the sensation of feeling at home, as stated by Andrea Trimarchi, founder of the Forma Fantasma studio along with Simone Farresin, who highlighted how homes bring with them a true personal, political, and economic dimension.
Homes are an evolutionary space, from which communities as we know them now have developed. Just think of the role that women or household servants began to play within the domestic walls, dictating rigid social and gender hierarchies.
MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2024: DOLCE&GABBANA’S GEN D PROJECT
Where? Via Giuseppe Broggi 19, Milan
For the second time, Dolce&Gabbana’s Gen D project returns, showcasing 11 young designers from around the world, including South Africa, China, Singapore, Germany, and Italy, during Milan Design Week 2024.
Additionally, the fashion house will present its Dolce&Gabbana Casa and Dreaming collection, focusing on neutral tones of white and black, as well as majolica green.
DESIGN ANCORA – GUCCI
Where? The flagship store at Via Monte Napoleone 7a, Milan
The Design Ancora project will be showcased during the design week from April 15th to April 21st, 2024, at the brand’s flagship store in Via Monte Napoleone 7a, Milan.
The space will feature the exhibition of five specially designed objects, symbolizing Italian craftsmanship, and is organized by Guillermo Santomà, an architect, sculptor, and set designer who has also worked on the renowned Casa Horta in Barcelona.
The dominant color, as we can infer from the installation’s name, will continue to be the classic “Rosso Ancora,” the shade that has distinguished the brand since the arrival of Sabato De Sarno, the new creative director.
The fashion house stated in a note:
“The golden age of Italian design has helped to showcase Italian craftsmanship and mass production worldwide. It’s a renowned alliance between our rooted, cultured professionalism and widespread pragmatism.”
MIU MIU’S LITERARY CLUB
Where? Circolo Filologico Milanese, Via Clerici 10, Milan

Miu Miu offers two days of reflection dedicated to the novels of Sibilla Aleramo and Alba De Céspedes, respectively ‘Una donna’ and ‘Quaderno proibito.’ The aim is to highlight the power of writing and its importance in giving voice to women and their ideologies.
“AN INVITATION TO DREAM” MONCLER’S exhibition
For the first time in its history, Milan’s Central Station will transform into a large art gallery, ahead of Milan Design Week 2024, thanks to a project by Moncler. The brand presents an immersive exhibition titled “An Invitation to Dream,” curated by Jefferson Hack, and filmed and photographed by Jack Davison.
The works of several prominent artists in the contemporary art scene will be showcased, including Daniel Arsham, Deepak Chopra, Isamaya Ffrench, Laila Gohar, Jeremy O. Harris, Francesca Hayward, Julianknxx, Ruth Rogers, Remo Ruffini, Rina Sawayama, Sumayya Vally, and Zaya.
All billboards and screens within the station will be dedicated to projecting an imaginary landscape to stimulate the audience’s dreams and imagination. Meanwhile, Jack Davison’s black-and-white photographs convey the idea of a slowed-down and intimate time, effectively capturing the humanity of the photographer.
MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2024: BALENCIAGA
During Milan Design Week 2024, the boutique on Via Montenapoleone will transform into a veritable art gallery, hosting 8 works from Andrew J. Greene’s Timeless Symbols series starting April 13th.
All 8 pieces are installed on steel candlesticks equipped with a mechanism that slowly rotates them, exposing them to the public and inviting them to consider them from a deeper perspective, conveying the full sense of the objects and their intrinsic value.
But what will these 8 objects be? We will find a red rose, a portable mirror, a world map, the clutch shoe, a Chips Bag, a shrimp cocktail, and a cup.
The installation will be titled “Balenciaga Art In Stores.”
