SHE JOINS US LIVE. KYLIE. STATE AGENTS HAVE ARRESTED AND ACCUSED A NEWCASTLE FATHER OF KILLING HIS NINE MONTH OLD SON. THAT LITTLE BOY WAS FOUND UNCONSCIOUS LAST WEEK WHILE IN DAD’S CARE. CHILD ADVOCATES SAY HORRIFIC CRIMES LIKE THIS HAPPEN MORE OFTEN THAN WE THINK. UNFORTUNATELY, WE SEE CIRCUMSTANCES LIKE THIS HAPPEN FAR TOO OFTEN. PARENTS WILL LOSE THEIR TEMPER. SOMETIMES A BABY JUST WON’T STOP CRYING AND THEY DON’T KNOW HOW TO REACT. A FATHER IS BEHIND BARS AFTER HIS NINE MONTH OLD SON DIED FROM POSSIBLE CHILD ABUSE. OSBI ARRESTED THE 25 YEAR OLD MONDAY FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER. THE CALL CAME IN LAST WEDNESDAY TO NEWCASTLE POLICE OF AN UNRESPONSIVE BABY. TWO DAYS LATER, THE LITTLE BOY DIED AT THE HOSPITAL WHILE THEY WERE TALKING TO HIM ABOUT THE PROCESS OF OF WHAT OCCURRED, OF WHY THAT THAT BABY WAS WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WHEN OFFICERS GOT TO THE HOME. AND BASED ON WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO GATHER THROUGH THAT CONVERSATION AND WHAT WE WERE ABLE TO LEARN, WE WE DETERMINE THAT HE NEEDED TO BE CHARGED WITH FIRST DEGREE MURDER. ON APRIL 11TH, OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE ARRESTED A FATHER FOR FIRST DEGREE MURDER. JUST ONE MONTH AFTER HIS FOUR MONTH OLD SON WAS FOUND. NOT BREATHING. THE BABY DIED AT THE HOSPITAL. THE DAD BLAMED THE INJURIES ON THE CHILD ROLLING OFF THE COUCH, BUT THE MEDICAL EXAMINER DISCOVERED SIGNS OF BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA. TOO OFTEN THESE THINGS HAPPEN IN A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF JUDGMENT, JOE DORMAN WITH THE OKLAHOMA INSTITUTE FOR CHILD ADVOCACY SAYS CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT STEMS FROM A LACK OF EDUCATION. TOO OFTEN WE SEE PARENTS RAISING KIDS THE WAY THEY WERE RAISED AND SO WITH THESE SITUATIONS, YOU HAVE TO YOU HAVE TO TAKE IN CONSIDERATION IN A LOT OF THESE PARENTS SIMPLY DON’T KNOW THE PROPER WAYS TO RAISE CHILDREN. AND IT FEELS LIKE WE’RE LOSING MORE OF THOSE SKILLS EACH DAY. BUT RESOURCES LIKE CLASSEN ARE AVAILABLE TO PARENTS WHO WANT TO BREAK THAT CYCLE, ESPECIALLY FIRST TIME PARENTS. THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES, THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT’S DIFFERENT NONPROFITS LIKE PARENT PROMISE. THEY OFFER PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS TO LEARN PARENTING SKILLS. I WOULD ENCOURAGE PARENTS IF IF YOU’VE HAD A STRESSFUL DAY AND YOUR BABY IS CRYING AND YOU ARE JUST FEELING THAT THAT GRATING FEELING, STEP AWAY FROM THE SITUATION. IT’S OKAY TO LEAVE YOUR BABY FOR FIVE MINUTES AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND. NOW CHILD ADVOCATES SAY IF YOU SEE CHILD ABUSE, IMMEDIATELY REPORT IT AND SAVE A LIFE THAT 25 YEAR OLD FATHER WILL HAVE HIS INITIAL COURT APPEARANCE TOMORROW IN MCLE

"Unfortunately, we see circumstances like this happen far too often. Parents will lose their temper, sometimes a baby just won't stop crying, and they don't know how to react," said Joe Dorman from the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

A 25-year-old Newcastle father was arrested on Monday for first-degree murder. His 9-month-old son died from possible child abuse.

The baby was found unconscious last week while in his father's care.

"They were talking with him about the process of what occurred, why that baby was unresponsive when officers got to the home, and based on what we were able to gather from that conversation, we determined he needed to be charged with first-degree murder," said OSBI Spokesperson Hunter McKee.

On April 11, Oklahoma City police arrested another father for first-degree murder. His 4-month-old son was found not breathing and later died at the hospital.

The father initially blamed the injuries on the child rolling off the couch, but the medical examiner discovered signs of blunt force trauma.

"Too often these things happen in a momentary lapse of judgment," Dorman said.

Dorman said he believes that child abuse and neglect often stem from a lack of education.

"Too often we see parents raising kids the way they were raised. So with these situations, you have to take into consideration a lot of parents don't know the proper ways to raise children, and it feels like we're losing more of those skills each day," Dorman said.

Dorman said resources land classes are available to parents who want to break this cycle, especially first-time parents.

"The Department of Human Services, the health department, different nonprofits like Parent Promise, they offer programs to individuals to learn parenting skills," Dorman said. "I would encourage parents, if you've had a stressful day, the baby's crying and you are just feeling that grading feeling, step away from that situation. It's OK to leave your baby for five minutes and take a deep breath."
