METEOROLOGIST SUSANNE HORGAN. GOOD MORNING. RIGHT NOW AS WE GO HOUR BY HOUR YOU’RE GOING TO NOTICE TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO BE CLIMBING THROUGHOUT THE DAY. ABOUT 63 DEGREES AT 8 A.M., 71 DEGREES AT 10 A.M. BY NOON WE’RE AT 77 DEGREES. THEN TEMPERATURES SOAR INTO THE MID TO PERHAPS EVEN UPPER 80S. AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR AFTERNOON HOURS. THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BREAK A PREVIOUS RECORD OF 86 DEGREES SET BACK IN 2006. WE’RE ALSO GOING TO BE WATCHING FOR THE RISK OF SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS AS WE HEAD INTO YOUR EVENING HOURS. IN FACT, WE’RE UNDER THE MARGINAL RISK CATEGORY THAT IS LEVEL ONE OUT OF THE FIVE POSSIBLE RISK CATEGORY. SO AGAIN, A FEW ISOLATED STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS MAY BE ABLE TO DEVELOP. WE’RE ALSO GOING TO BE WATCHING FOR A FEW STRONG STORMS POSSIBLY ON TUESDAY. AND THEN ON WEDNESDAY. THAT LOOKS TO BE THE DAY WHERE WE WOULD HAVE THE GREATEST LIKELIHOOD OF ARE SEEING SOME MORE STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS. THE ENTIRE WLKY VIEWING AREA PRETTY MUCH UNDER THAT SLIGHT RISK CATEGORY. THAT’S LEVEL TWO OUT OF THE FIVE RISK CATEGORIES AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE DAY TODAY. WHAT YOU’RE GOING TO NOTICE IS WE’RE DRY TO START SOME BEAUTIFUL SUNSHINE EXPECTED ONCE WE HEAD INTO TONIGHT, THAT’S WHEN WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOME SHOWER AND THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY, SOME GUSTY WINDS, PERHAPS SOME HAIL COULD DEVELOP WITH SOME OF THESE DOWNPOURS. Temperatures climb into the 70s and 80s this week, but some impact weather will come along with the warmth.

Monday looks to be a very warm day as temperatures climb well into the 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies. The record high in Louisville is 86 degrees. A few showers or storms cannot be ruled out late in the day due to a front nearby.The front pushes north on Tuesday, leading to a continuation of the warm pattern. Expect partly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid-80s. An isolated shower is possible during the day. The best chance for more widespread showers and storms will be Tuesday night as a cold front approaches. Showers and storms will remain possible on Wednesday, especially in the morning and then again during the afternoon and evening. Some of the storms may be strong to severe. Highs will be in the upper 70s to possibly low 80s. The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted our area for a severe storm chance Wednesday.Thursday will stay mostly dry with temperatures in the 70s before another chance for some rain arrives Friday or Saturday, but that will depend on the timing of another cold front.
