Carmelo Anthony Wanted LeBron James On The Court For 50-Point Game Against Miami Heat

Anthony dropped 50 points on the Miami Heat 11 years ago today

Carmelo Anthony had one of the more memorable games of his career on April 2nd, 2013.

Anthony and the New York Knicks played the Miami Heat in a late-season matchup. The Knicks took the game 102-90 behind one of Anthony’s best performances of his career.

Anthony led the Knicks with 50 points on 18 for 26 shooting from the field. At the time, it was a career high.

"I felt good tonight," was what Anthony simply said following the game.

The Heat were not at full strength during the game. LeBron James and Dwayne Wade both sat out due to injury. That led to Chris Bosh leading the Heat offense that night with 23 points.

Anthony spoke about the night Monday on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast. “The Heat was special cause that was like 50 with all jump shots, and that was a wild night,” Anthony said.

“I was mad that Bron and them ain’t play,” Anthony added. “They sat out that game so I’m like damn, ya’ll going to do that to me? I feel like K-Dot I come down here to see them like let’s play. Every jumper I make I’m looking over there they laughing and they like ohhh. I wanted ya’ll to be out here.”

Anthony finished the year as the leading scorer in the NBA, leading the Knicks to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. The teams never met in the postseason because the Knicks were upset by the Indiana Pacers in the second round. The Heat went on to win their second consecutive championship that season.

The Heat and Knicks faceoff tonight on the anniversary of Anthony’s memorable performance.
