10 shots heard in exchange of gunfire that killed 2 outside Jackson convenience store
A woman who lives in an apartment complex near the scene of a Thursday night double homicide said she rushed outside to check on her kids after she heard the barrage of bullets.
The woman, who didn't want to be identified, said she heard 10 shots, and by the time she got outside, the gunfire had stopped.
"(I) was worried that somebody could’ve gotten hurt, or it could've came where we were staying at and it could’ve been one of my babies or anything," she said.
Jackson police have been able to identify possible suspects after detectives reviewed surveillance video, according to Chief Joe Wade.
According to investigators, 45-year-old Glen Stevens and another man who hasn’t been identified were found shot to death outside the Food Mart convenience store on West Capitol Street at the intersection of Longino Street.
According to the chief, individuals may have been exchanging gunfire at the scene when the two men were killed. Friday morning, there was still a stain of dried blood on the ground from where investigators removed the bodies of the shooting victims.
Late in the morning, the store still hadn’t opened for the day, and the front doors were still padlocked.
The woman said she often shops at the store.
"I don't feel like it's safe for nobody to be at the store because (you) don’t never know what might happen," she said.
