Platte Valley 5, Lyons 3, in Kersey: Platte Valley won this tight nonleague affair to extend its win streak to four games and improve to 7-4 overall. Junior Dagan Gomez led the Broncos, offensively, hitting 2 for 3 with a double and a run. Senior Kody Reusink and sophomore Hazen Weber each had an RBI for Platte Valley. Reusink pitched all seven innings, allowing three unearned runs on three hits, striking out two and walking three.
Highland 15, DSST: Montview 5, 5 inn., in Ault: Highland engineered its best offensive outing of the season, improving to 4-6 overall. The Huskies scored in every inning and out-hit Montview 8-2. Sophomore Elijah Elder led a balanced Highland offense, hitting 2 for 4 with three RBI, a run, a double and a triple. He was one of four Huskies players with multiple RBI. Highland sophomore Stetson Hendren was solid on the mound, pitching all five innings and allowing one earned run on two hits, striking out nine and walking four.
Weld Central 3, Bennett 1, in Bennett: Weld Central picked up a quality win in this nonleague pitchers’ duel to improve to 5-7 overall. The Rebels scored all three of their runs in the top of the eight. They out-hit Bennett 8-1. Sophomore Lucas Johann led Weld Central, hitting 2 for 3 with an RBI. Johann also pitched six of seven innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, striking out five and walking three.
Briggsdale 21, Weldon Valley 3, 4 inn., in Briggsdale: Briggsdale snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 2-5 overall, 1-0 in 1A District 5 play. Already leading 5-1 early, the Falcons positioned themselves for the mercy rule win with a 16-run bottom of the third. Senior Gentry Johnson and junior Halo Snyder each had two hits, two runs, a double and three RBI. They were two of six Briggsdale players with multiple RBI. Senior Tanner Fiscus pitched all four innings for the Falcons. He allowed one earned run on one hit, striking out seven and walking six.
Boys lacrosse
Windsor 16, Jefferson Academy 2, in Broomfield: Windsor dominated this conference road affair to improve to 4-5 overall, 1-1 in 4A Northern Conference play. This was the Wizards’ third consecutive win.
Green Mountain 12, Resurrection Christian 11, in Lakewood: Resurrection Christian fell just short in this nonconference nail-biter. The Cougars led 7-5 at halftime before Green Mountain gained the edge with a 6-3 advantage in the third quarter. Junior Zander Adfield led the way for Resurrection Christian with four goals. Sophomore Cohen Pirkle added three goals and an assist. The Cougars fell to 5-4 overall.
Girls soccer
Greeley West 1, Frederick 0, in Greeley: Greeley West’s defense stepped up in this nonconference win. The Spartans scored the game’s sole goal in the first half. West improved to 3-3-1 overall.
Windsor Charter 6, Twin Peaks Charter 1, in Windsor: Windsor Charter scored three goals in each half to keep Twin Peaks on its heels. Junior Dillan Brown led the way with two goals. Seniors Morgan Kimmi and Addyson McCutchen each had one goal and two assists. The Firebirds improved to 5-3 overall, 5-0 in 2A Metro Hills West play.
Timmath 5, Greeley Central 0, in Timnath: Greeley Central couldn’t crack Timnath’s defense, as the Cubs used a balanced effort to overwhelm the Wildcats. Timnath received five goals from five different players. Greeley Central fell to 2-6 overall.
Prospect Ridge Academy 10, Frontier Academy 0, Greeley: Frontier Academy couldn’t slow Prospect Ridge in this nonleague affair. The Miners scored five goals in each half. The Wolverines fell to 4-5-2 overall.
Track and field
Greeley Central hosts Twilight, in Greeley: Greeley Central and 20 other teams competed under the lights of District 6 Stadium during the Greeley Twilight Invitational.
Eaton’s girls placed second (117.5), and its boys were fifth (62). Windsor’s boys were third (110), and its girls placed fourth (89). Dayspring’s girls finished eighth (31), while its boys were 10th (17). Prairie’s girls were 10th (24), and its boys tied for 15th (5).
Host Greeley Central placed 12th (16) in the girls standings and eighth (28) in the boys standings. Weld Central was 13th (13) in the girls standings and 12th (15) in the boys standings. Pawnee was 17th (2) in the boys standings.
Cheyenne East won the girls team title (167), while Cheyenne Central claimed the boys team title (175).
Eaton’s Delaney Reuter won the girls 800-meter run in 2:19.94, as well as the 3,200 (10:54.71). Eaton’s Andie Rasmussen won the girls 300 hurdles (45.43). Dayspring Christian’s team of Angela Friedman, Abby Casey, McKenna Rennie and Danae Rowe won the girls 3,200 relay (10:43.09).
Eaton’s quartet of Lyla Kamerer, Zoey Hall, Madelyn Fisher and Rasmussen won the girls 800 sprint medley (1:53.07). Windsor’s Finley Bach won the girls pole vault (11′). Eaton’s team of Patrick Preston, Kooper Morgans, Adrian Muniz and Owen DeJong won the boys 800 relay (1:37.36).
Eaton’s Owen Ochsner won the boys high jump (5′ 11″). Windsor’s Camden Smith won the boys long jump (20′ 3.5″).
Local teams compete, in Lakewood: Roosevelt’s girls were fifth (18) out of 28 teams, while its boys also placed fifth (10) out of 28 teams during the highly competitive Pomona Invitational at Jefferson County Stadium. Windsor’s boys were 15th (6), and Resurrection Christian’s boys tied for 27th (1). Cherry Creek won the girls team title with 26 points. Coronado won the boys team title with 21 points.
Windsor’s Mikey Munn won the boys 100 with a meet record of 10.53 seconds, and he won the 200 with a meet record (21.05). Resurrection Christian’s Jackson Fagerlin won the boys 1,600 with a meet record (4:15.10) and also won the 800 with a meet record (11:54.57).
Windsor’s team of Kiana Cumings, Madelyn Von Tersch, Sidnei Cumings and Lindsey Hinson won the girls 1,600 relay (4:00.42). Severance’s Jaden Hoffman won the boys high jump (6′ 3″).

Greeley Central goes 0-3, in Colorado Springs: Greeley Central dropped a trio of matches during Cheyenne Mountain’s home tournament. The Wildcats fell to Littleton Public Schools 3-1, Pueblo South 3-1 and host Cheyenne Mountain 3-0. Greeley Central fell to 3-12 overall.
Stargate School 3, Severance 0, in Severance: Severance dropped this hard-fought sweep, falling 25-23, 25-21, 25-16. The Silver Knights fell to 6-7 overall.

Resurrection Christian 8, University 6, in Loveland: In a battle of two of the top teams in 3A, Resurrection Christian used two big innings to hand University its first league loss. The Cougars scored four runs in the bottom of the second and four more in the fifth. Senior Deegan Corrigan led the way for Resurrection Christian with four RBI and a double on 2-for-3 hitting. University senior Dalton Yaste went 3 for 4 with two RBI and a double. The Cougars improved to 12-1 overall, 4-0 in 3A Patriot League play. The Bulldogs fell to 7-2, 4-1. Resurrection Christian is fifth, and University is sixth in the latest CHSAA Seeding Index statewide rankings.
Platte Valley 9, Weld Central 5, in Keenesburg: Platte Valley extended its win streak to five games with this 3A Patriot League win. Broncos sophomore Hazen Weber led the way with three RBI, two doubles and a run on 4-for-4 hitting. Platte Valley junior Jeremiah Molinar went 4 for 4 with two runs, an RBI and two doubles. Broncos senior Howdy Johnson pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits, striking out six and walking two. Sophomore Lucas Johnson, freshman Daniel Montes and junior Marcello Rossi each had two hits and an RBI for Weld Central. Platte Valley improved to 8-4 overall, 3-2 in Patriot League play. The Rebels fell to 5-8, 0-5.
Eaton 5, Sterling 0, in Sterling: Eaton remained undefeated on the season, improving to 12-0 overall, 5-0 in 3A Patriot League play. This was the Reds’ eighth shutout of the season. Senior Gunnar Duncan led Eaton, offensively, hitting 3 for 3 with a run, an RBI, a double and a triple. Reds senior Mitch Haythorn pitched six of seven shutout innings, allowing three hits, while striking out 12 and walking one.
Northridge 4, Frederick 1, in Frederick: Northridge snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 2-9 overall, 1-5 in 4A Longs Peak play. The Grizzlies out-hit Frederick 8-3. Senior Lincoln Lyons drove in two of Northridge’s four RBI on 1-for-3 hitting with a triple. Sophomore Damian Alvarez went 2 for 3 with two runs, a double and a triple. Lyons also pitched all seven innings, allowing one earned run on three hits, striking out eight and walking none.
Severance 2, Niwot 1, in Severance: Severance won this pitchers’ duel to complete a two-game sweep of Niwot and improve to 7-4 overall, 3-3 in 4A Longs Peak play. Each team scored a run in the first inning. The Silver Knights scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth. Junior Dom Rice recorded Severance’s only RBI on 1-for-3 hitting. Senior Ryan Ewoniuk pitched all seven innings for the Silver Knights, allowing one earned run on four hits, striking out nine and walking one. Severance improved to 7-4 overall, 3-3 in 4A Longs Peak play.
Mead 4, Windsor 3, in Windsor: Windsor fell for the second time this season, dropping to 11-2 overall, 4-2 in 4A/5A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. The Wizards jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning but were unable to score again. Senior Rylen Renton led the way, hitting 1 for 3 with two RBI. Despite the loss, Windsor junior Ethan Fillinger was solid in 5 2/3 innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs on six hits, striking out eight and walking three.
Silver Creek 18, Greeley Central 12, in Greeley: Greeley Central fell short in this high-scoring conference affair, dropping to 3-7 overall, 1-6 in 4A/5A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. Silver Creek went up 8-0 in the top of the third and stayed a couple steps ahead of the Wildcats the rest of the game. Junior Xander Andrade led Greeley Central, hitting 2 for 4 with three RBI. Junior Owen Yost went 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs.
Longmont 3, Greeley West 0, in Longmont: Greeley West arguably played well enough, defensively, to win. But the Spartans just couldn’t produce the offense needed to claim this conference game. Freshman Isaiah Preciado had three of West’s four hits. The Spartans fell to 2-8 overall, 1-6 in 4A/5A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.
Valley drops two, in Fort Collins: Valley was unable to slow Liberty Common, dropping both games of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 13-8. The Vikings fell to 6-6 overall, 2-3 in 3A Patriot League play.
Wellington 7, Highland 0, in Ault: After scoring 15 runs the day before, Highland was unable to get any offense going in this league loss. Wellington out-hit the Huskies 9-4. Highland fell to 4-7 overall, 0-5 in 3A Patriot League play.
Girls soccer
Windsor 3, Northridge 2, in Greeley: Windsor narrowly got the better of Northridge in this big intracounty matchup. The Grizzlies led 1-0 at halftime before the Wizards outscored them 3-1 in the second half. Three Windsor players scored a goal apiece — junior Hana McKay, freshman Tatum Gentry and sophomore Ambry Plate. Senior Sunnie Yarnell scored both of Northridge’s goals. The Wizards improved to 4-3-1 with the nonconference win. The Grizzlies fell to 5-3-2.
Bruce Randolph 10, Fort Lupton 1, in Denver: Fort Lupton succumbed to an offensive onslaught by Bruce Randolph. The Grizzlies scored six goals in the first half and four more in the second. Freshman Yaida Rodriguez scored the Bluedevils’ sole goal in the second half. Fort Lupton fell to 2-6 overall, 2-2 in 3A/2A Frontier League play.
Girls tennis
Windsor places first, in Windsor: Windsor hosted six other teams in its home tournament, the Windsor Spring Invitational. The Wizards scored 64 points to occupy the top spot. Severance was second (55), and University placed fifth (15). Among the individual highlights, Severance freshman Joanna Carter defeated Windsor junior Mycah Biscegila 7-5, 6-4 in the finals of the No. 1 singles division. Wizards sophomore Zaylee Rose won the No. 2 singles bracket. Severance senior Erin Crownhart defeated Windsor junior Delaney Kintz 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles final. The Wizards all-sophomore duo of Mia Baatz and Taylor Meinen placed first at No. 3 doubles. Windsor senior Abby Toerge and freshman Sally Dreyer were first at No. 4 doubles.
Track and field
Platte Valley hosts Stampede, in Kersey: Platte Valley welcomed 15 other teams — many of them local — to its home stadium for the Platte Valley Broncos Stampede. Frontier Academy won the boys team title (108.5 points) and was 14th (17.6) in the girls team standings. University’s girls were seventh (46.7), and its boys placed ninth (33). Northridge’s boys were sixth (54), and its girls were eighth (44).
Host Platte Valley was ninth (43) in the girls standings and 10th (31) in the boys standings. Dayspring Christian’s girls were 11th (28), and its boys placed 14th (19). Sedgwick County won the girls team title with 81.5 points.
Dayspring senior Angela Friedman was first in the girls 1,600-meter run (5:42.05). Her sophomore Eagles teammate Cooper Osmus won the boys 1,600 (4:51.71). Frontier Academy senior Darren Hayden was first in the boys 400 (51.55) and first in the 800 (2:04.32).
Hayden’s freshman teammate, Natalie Bumgarner, won the girls 3,200 (13:29.14). Wolverines junior Kalid Fanning was first in the boys 3,200 (10:13.85). Dayspring won the girls 1,600 relay (4:29.50). Northridge senior Savanna Amack won the girls long jump (16′ 3.75″) and the triple jump (35′ 10.5″).
Frontier Academy junior Amir McDonald won the boys high jump (6′). Frontier Academy senior Parker Gentry won the boys pole vault (14′ 6″).
Valley hosts Valhalla, in Gilcrest: Platte Valley wasn’t the only local program to host its home meet this weekend. Valley hosted seven other teams in the Valhalla Classic. The host Vikings won the boys meet (190) and placed third in the girls standings (114). Weld Central’s boys were second (98), and its girls were fourth (89). Dayspring’s boys were sixth (44), and its girls placed seventh (37). Lake County won the girls meet with 141 points.
Valley junior Kendyll Mayhugh won the girls 100 (13.69). Vikings senior Abril Armendariz won the girls 200 (28.09). Weld Central senior Jazlyn Ontiveros won the girls 400 (66.82). Her sophomore Rebels teammate, Kiana Fernandez, won the girls 100 hurdles (20.13).

Vikings senior Owen Peterson won the boys long jump (18′ 5″) and triple jump (37′ 10″). Valley junior Alex Eager won the boys shot put (39′ 8″). Weld Central sophomore Zach Francis Gould won the boys discus (125′ 3″).
University challenges itself, in Denver: Numerous top athletes from University tested themselves in the talent-laden Mullen Invitational. Among the highlights, junior Brevon Doss was second in the boys 200 (22.43) and fifth in the boys 100 (11.12). Junior Cadence Schedlbauer was second in the girls pole vault (8′ 9″).
Junior Ava Dominguez was third in the girls 300 hurdles (48.71) and fourth in 100 hurdles (17.53). Senior Johnny Whyrick was third in the boys shot put (51′ 11.5″) and fourth in discus (145′ 5″). University was the runner-up in the girls 400 relay (51.90).
Greeley West competes, in Littleton: Greeley West’s boys were sixth (46) out of 18 teams, and its girls placed eighth (28) out of 17 teams during the Lions Classic Invitational, hosted by Littleton High School. Senior Korbin Waugh led the Spartans, placing first in the boys discus (145′ 11″). Senior Kaden Waugh was second in the boys shot put (42′ 8″). Freshman Isabella Allen placed second in the girls 100 (13.08). Senior Daniel Sandoval was third in the boys triple jump (41′ 0.5″).

Greeley Central 3, James Irwin 2, in Colorado Springs: Greeley Central picked up a win during the second and final day of Cheyenne Mountain’s home tournament. The Wildcats prevailed 24-26, 18-25, 25-15, 26-24, 15-10. Greeley Central improved to 4-12 overall and snapped a nine-match losing streak.

Windsor 10, Mead 0, 5 inn., in Mead: Windsor effectively avenged a 4-3 home loss to this same Mead team two days earlier. The Wizards out-hit the Mavericks 6-1. Junior Teegan Cole led the way, hitting 1 for 4 with four RBI, a run and a triple. Junior Grant Kerber went 2 for 3 with two RBI, two runs and a home run. Kerber also pitched all five innings, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out five and walking one. He faced just one batter more than the minimum. Windsor improved to 12-2 overall, 5-2 in 4A/5A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play.
University 16, Manitou Springs 4, 5 inn., in Greeley: University responded to just its second loss of the season, two days earlier against Resurrection Christian. Senior Dalton Yaste led the Bulldogs, hitting 2 for 3 with five RBI, two doubles and two runs. Senior Jacob Cruz went 3 for 3 with two runs, two RBI and a triple. University improved to 8-2 overall with the nonleague win.
Prairie splits games, in Otis: Prairie won the first game of this nonleague doubleheader, 15-13, but was unable to complete the sweep, dropping Game 2 17-2 in four innings. In Game 1, the Mustangs trailed 9-7 through six innings before outscoring Otis 8-4 in the seventh. Prairie led briefly in Game 2, going up 2-0 in the first inning before giving up 17 unanswered runs in three innings. The Mustangs moved their record to 5-5.
Silver Creek 8, Greeley Central 7, in Longmont: Greeley Central fell just short of snapping a two-game losing streak. Senior Luke Arguello led the Wildcats, hitting 1 for 2 with three RBI and a double. Senior Martin Mendoza went 2 for 4 with a run, an RBI and a triple. Longmont 15, Greeley West 0, in Greeley: Greeley West struggled in all facets, as it was swept by Longmont in a two-game series. The Trojans out-hit the Spartans 18-0.
Bennett 18, Fort Lupton 3, 4 inn., in Bennett: Fort Lupton couldn’t get much going in this league loss. Bennett out-hit the Bluedevils 10-3. Sophomore Donovan Buschman led Fort Lupton, hitting 1 for 2 with an RBI, a run and a double. The Bluedevils fell to 1-8 overall, 0-2 in 3A/2A Frontier League play.
Girls golf
Resurrection Christian wins invite, in Sterling: Resurrection Christian shot a four-golfer score of 251 to place first out of 11 teams in the Sterling Invitational at Northeastern 18.
Sophomore Avery Stockslager led the Cougars, shooting a 76 and placing second overall. Also golfing for Resurrection Christian were sophomore Karina Garcia (81, tied-4th), sophomore Karis Reichardt (100, tied-13th) and junior Brooke May (94, 8th).
Timnath freshman CheyAnne Schrick shot a 74 to place first, individually.
Northridge places second, in Fort Morgan: Northridge (263) was the runner-up to Riverdale Ridge (255) in the nine-team Fort Morgan Longs Peak League tournament at Quail Dunes Golf Course. Severance was fourth (276), and Roosevelt placed sixth (326).
Sophomore Grace Gerbers led Northridge, shooting an 86 and tying for third, individually. She was joined on the team by sophomore Jade Helper (89, tied-7th), junior Leila Thompson (88, 6th), junior Emmarie Miles (98, 15th) and sophomore Madison Nation (108, tied-24th).
Golfing for Severance were junior Sophie Morgan (86, tied-3rd), junior Katelyn Johnson (91, 12th), senior Isabella Baessler (108, tied-24th), junior Reagan Mendoza (99, tied-16th) and freshman Jaycee Runner (102, 22nd).

Windsor is runner-up, in Firestone: Windsor shot a 336 to finish second behind Holy Family (324) in a six-team league match hosted by Mead at the Saddleback Golf Club.

Centaurus 3, Greeley Central 0, 4 inn., in Greeley: Greeley Central couldn’t penetrate Centaurus’ defense, as the Wildcats suffered their third consecutive loss and fell to 2-7 overall, 0-2 in 5A/4A/3A Northern Colorado Athletic Conference play. The Warriors scored two goals in the first half and one more in the second.

Greeley West 7, Centaurus 0, in Lafayette: After suffering its first dual loss of the season four days earlier, Greeley West got back in the win column with this dominant victory. All but one match ended in a two-set sweep. The Spartans’ all-sophomore duo of Paige Rupple and Hailey Ratliff picked up a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win at No. 4 doubles. West improved to 8-1 overall, 7-1 in league play.
Windsor 7, Longmont 0, in Windsor: Windsor remained red hot, improving to 5-2 overall, 3-1 in 4A Region 7 duals. In the only match that went beyond two sets, Wizards junior Delaney Kintz defeated senior Addison Engelking 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
