Rhode Island Delegation to provide $54 million for transportation upgrades

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Delegation has announced more than $54 million in funding for transportation upgrades across the Ocean State. 

RIDOT will receive $2 million to manage stormwater drainage and reduce roadway flooding at 97 locations across the state. 

RIDOT will also receive an additional $750,000 to develop a coastal management plan for three state roadway resurfacing projects along route I-136. 

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority will receive $17 million to install a dehumidification system on the cables and anchors of the Mount Hope Bridge. 

And the City of Newport is getting over $11 million to repair and stabilize two sections of the Newport Cliff Walk that collapsed in 2022.
