UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson recently hosted the grand opening of Lefty’s Cheesesteaks at 2115 S. Taylor Road in University Heights.
The April 4 event included live music and special guests, including Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Watson opened the restaurant with his business partner, Lefty’s founder and CEO Sam Berry, who was also present.
The University Heights restaurant is the first Lefty’s in Ohio. Lefty’s, founded in 2012, also has locations in Michigan and Florida.
The Lefty’s menu includes, in addition to cheesesteak sandwiches, a variety of hoagies, a corned beef sandwich, loaded fries and more.
Lefty’s is located in the long-vacant former KFC building.
Mayor Michael Dylan Brennan took the occasion to proclaim April 4 “Lefty’s Cheesesteak Day” in University Heights.
In that proclamation, it was written, ”Whereas, we may all be living in a right-handed world, but we are now invited into Sam Berry’s left-handed oasis here on Cedar-Taylor -- and as Sam says, ‘If you don’t eat left, you don’t eat right.’”
