One dead in Cass County tractor crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. (WSBT) — A 23-year-old St. Joseph man is dead after a tractor crashed in Cass County Saturday afternoon.

Just after 12 p.m., the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a tractor crash on Garrett Road north of Middle Crossing Road in Silver Creek Township.

Officials say the driver of the tractor, 23-year-old Nathan Scherer, lost control while he was pulling a farm implement tool and jack-knifed.

Scherer was ejected from the cab and the tractor rolled onto him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
