CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - For the second and final time of the regular season, East and Central’s soccer teams went to battle on the pitch-- and as fans seen so many times before between these rivals-- the competition did not disappoint.

The girls teams were up first, with the Lady Indians looking to avenge their loss to the Lady T-Birds earlier in the season. Central did draw first blood in this one; late in the first Carmen Tafoya found the back of the net to put the visitors up going into the break. For the majority of the second half that’s how the score remained. East was getting a lot of pressure, and Jordan Griess finally leveled it late in the game with a sensational shot to the weak side of the goal. Just a few minutes later, Kaitlyn Meyrick sent a free kick that Ary Booth had to make a phenomenal play on to save a goal, but Ekena Little ended up converting anyways off of the rebound to put Central back up 2-1. The third goal in six minutes of gameplay was again courtesy of Griess; she was in the right place at the right time on a through ball and tucked it away to level the score at 2-2. That would ultimately be the final score of the game for a draw.

The boys teams were up next, and in this one it was the T-Birds trying to get one back on the second ranked Indians. The first big chance of the game, however, came from the visitors. Sam Shumway delivered a beautiful cross for a one-timer shot, but Jaxon Miller made an equally impressive save to deny Central. Both teams played stout defense to go into the half tied at 0-0. The play was more of the same for the first few minutes out of the break, but the Indians finally broke the ice on an East own goal in the 68th. That ended up being all they would need, and Central escaped in a dogfight to remain undefeated on the season by a score of 1-0.
