The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office has identified the suspect in the hours-long standoff Friday in Sparks during which three officers were shot.

Anthony G. Wade, 34, of Reno, was found dead after the standoff. The cause and manner of death are still pending.

Two Sparks police officers and one Washoe County deputy were shot during the incident in the 1700 block of Greenbrae Drive that began as a traffic stop around 1:39 p.m., officials said. They were treated for their injuries and released at a local hospital.

After fleeing when Sparks police tried to pull him over, Wade crashed his car then tried to break into a home in west Sparks, police said at a news conference Saturday. The homeowner was able to keep him out, officials said.

Wade then broke into two other residences just east of the original scene, officials said. Both homeowners, who police identified as elderly women, were taken to safety.

Wade barricaded himself in the third house, where he exchanged gunfire with police, according to Sparks police. Officers from Reno and Sparks police and the Sheriff's Office negotiated with Wade for several hours.

At about 10 p.m., police said they entered the home and found Wade dead.

The Reno Police Department said it is leading the investigation.
