On Monday, agents with the Colbert County Drug Task Force, along with assistance from the Muscle Shoals Police Department, conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Sixth Street.

After speaking with the driver, the sheriff’s office says consent to search was given to agents.

When the passenger of the vehicle was removed and positively identified as Abernathy, deputies say he was confirmed to have warrants in Franklin County.

During arrest, Abernathy was searched and two medicine bottles were located on him. The sheriff’s office says the bottles contained 238 fentanyl pills and 1 gram of methamphetamine.

He was also found with $1,375 in US currency.

All evidence was seized, and he was transported to Colbert County Jail. Jail records show his bond was set at $200,000.

Holds were also placed for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
