MONTECITO, CALIFORNIA: Prince Harry named the United States as his primary place of residence for the first time since dissolving his connection to the royal family in 2020.

According to Daily Mail, Harry decided to begin his official US residence on the day he and his wife Meghan Markle moved out of Frogmore Cottage, a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth.

Prince Harry renounces his British residency declaring the US is his 'new country'

After enduring years of royal tension, Prince Harry, aged 39, has officially cut his connections to his British roots, clearly signaling his intention to permanently reside in the United States and make it his home.

The Duke of Sussex had to update the country of residence for his nonprofit ecotourism organization Travalyst, requiring him to submit new paperwork to Companies House.

On the contrary, he now designates America as his home base, whereas he previously considered the United Kingdom as such, the TMZ reported.

Harry and his wife Meghan, aged 42, officially departed from the United Kingdom on June 28, 2023, three months after receiving the directive to vacate their residence, Frogmore Cottage, from King Charles III.

In the filings submitted by Companies House for his eco-travel company, Travalyst, Harry notably designated June 29, 2023, as the "date of change," which were filed on Wednesday, April 17.

Prince Harry established the sustainable tourism company Travalyst in 2019, per the New York Post. It's a London-based nonprofit, and as part of the organization's procedures, corporate returns were filed at the end of the year with Harry's "new details."

Based on recent documents, Harry stated that his "new country/state" was now the "United States." Harry listed the UK as his initial place of residence when he created the company in 2019.

In 2020, Harry and Meghan embarked on the widely dubbed "Megxit" move to Montecito, California, where they currently live with their children, Prince Archie, aged 4, and Princess Lilibet, aged 2.

Although it remains uncertain whether Harry's choice to relinquish his British residency will impact any of his titles, he might have the chance to discuss it with his father during his visit to London.

Reportedly, Harry and Meghan moved their belongings out of the Windsor mansion on June 29, 2023, which had been their UK base until their relocation to California in 2020

According to recently disclosed business documents, this is the day when the Duke of Sussex officially declared America as his new residence.

Royal experts suggest that Harry was "deeply wounded" by his father's decision for him and Meghan to vacate Frogmore, which had been Queen Elizabeth's wedding present.

There have also been hints that Harry was trying to send a signal by choosing the date.

"Charles and William knew it had to be done to emphasize Harry and Meghan were outside The Firm but he probably still thought he could keep a base here. Now he's shown he accepts his life is in the US," royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun.

This follows Harry's announcement earlier this year that he had "considered" pursuing US citizenship, a move that would necessitate him relinquishing his royal titles.

In February, on 'Good Morning America,' Harry stated, "The thought has crossed my mind but it's not a high priority right now."

Now, when they travel to the UK, they have no permanent residence and must stay in hotels or with friends.

In a 2022 interview with Today, Harry stated, "Home for me, now, for the time being, is in the States. And it really feels that way, as well. We’ve been welcomed with open arms and have got such a great community up in Santa Barbara."

Internet remains unfazed by Prince Harry's latest move

Social media users seemed unfazed by Prince Harry's recent announcement about cutting all ties with Britain and declaring the US as his new residence instead of the UK.

One such user claimed on Facebook, "Smart move, his brother the future king would have pushed him out anyway."

A second one added, "Well thanks for letting me know that, now I will wait for you to report when he buys a car or starts up at the gym…. Seriously."

"Awesome now stop calling him Prince!" exclaimed a user.

One more chimed in, "STAY THERE AND PAY FOR YOUR OWN SECURITY."

"Hopefully he will stay in california with the other commies," snarked another one. [sic]
