Carly Pearce is showing that beauty can sometimes be pain.

In a behind-the-scenes video shared April 7 from the CMT Awards, the "hummingbird" singer showed what can happen backstage after a performance — especially if the performance is wearing extra-tall platform high heels.

"We got a shoe change?" a man filming the video says, walking up to Pearce, 33, and an assistant helping her change out of her towering heels in a hallway backstage at Moody Center in Austin.

"These are only good for so long," she says, hoisting up her platform bedazzled heels to show the camera. "Then they're not."

"It felt like heaven when my shoes came off," Pearce jokes. "I can never wear these again but they're so pretty."

At the annual country music awards show, hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, Pearce took home an award of her own. Alongside musician Chris Stapleton, she won the prize for collaborative video of the year for their track "We Don't Fight Anymore."

"I wanna say thank you to Chris Stapleton, for just making all of my dreams come true and being a part of this song with me," she said in her acceptance speech (and yes, she was wearing the glittering platform shoes).

She then went on to thank the stars of the music video, Lucy Hale and Shiloh Fernandez, as well as director Alexa Campbell, and thanked her fans for their support.

"I won breakthrough video of the year in 2017 or 2018 and you guys changed my whole life that night," she added, "and you continue to. So God bless you."

Pearce recently spoke with PEOPLE about how the "We Don't Fight Anymore" collaboration came to be.

“I am very particular about how I approach another artist to do something with me. And I didn't want it to be where our record labels got involved or anything like that. I wanted it to be authentic to us,” she explained.

She said because of a pre-existing relationship she had with Stapleton’s wife, Morgane, she decided to reach out to her directly over Instagram.

“I said, ‘Hey, I'm sure you get this all the time, but I have this song that I really feel like Chris is supposed to be a part of. Do you care if I send it to you?'” she recalls, explaining that Morgane asked if the couple could be “honest” as they do receive lots of similar requests.

“‘Absolutely, I understand completely,” she recalled telling them. “[I] just wanted him to hear it.”

Months after the song had been released, Pearce became a two-time Grammy nominee when she and Stapleton were nominated for best country duo/group performance, the couple called her to share their excitement.

"Chris and his sweet wife Morgane ... they FaceTimed me and we had this little moment and it was just awesome," she told PEOPLE. "I mean, these are just huge gifts that you're given as a songwriter and as an artist, and it's just kind of mind-blowing."
