HENDERSON — The Friends of the Perry Library will have a Backdoor Book Sale this Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. We have had some wonderful donations. Please come out and get your books for spring reading. All proceeds go to helping the library with summer reading, the purchase of the book mobile, staff support and other needs of our fantastic library.
Also this Sunday, the library will host a Tea Party in honor of National Tea Day. All ages are welcome to enjoy tea, cookies and hat making. Registering is possible, but not necessary.
Last week was National Library Week, and the Friends celebrated our wonderful library staff members. Lunch was provided on two days by volunteers and goodies on other days. Our local businesses also thanked the staff by donating gift cards. We would like to thank Nella Roo’s, Sadie’s Coffee, Denny’s, Mazatlan, George’s, The Attic, Golden Skillet, Jersey Mike’s, Pino’s, and Postal Plus gift shop.
The friends have also brought the North Carolina Humanities community read program, NC Reads to The Perry Library. We have had two wonderful discussions on the first two books in this series. Next, we will discuss American Refuge by Diya Abdo on May 13 at 6 p.m. at the library. Books are available for sign out at the circulation desk, so come join us.
