Sunny and warm today, showers and storms tonight

Dry today, but storms move in tonight and bring lingering light showers Friday morning.
A marginal risk (level 1/5) of severe weather is over the tri-state for tonight's storms, but it should be noted these storms will be weakening upon arrival.

CINCINNATI (WXIX) - Thursday is dry during the day with mostly sunny skies and clouds slowly increasing during the afternoon. Winds will be light, but the abundant sunshine will allow high temperatures to soar into the upper 70s to near 80°.

Thursday night will have clouds move in with rain and thunderstorms, some of which could be moderate to heavy rain briefly, developing around sunset and continue until Friday morning. The FOX19 NOW viewing area is under a Marginal Risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe weather in the Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center as a few storms may contain strong winds and small hail. The current timeline for these storms will be between 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Lingering light showers will continue Friday morning, but should be out of the tri-state by noon Friday.

Total rainfall amounts will be less than a half of an inch, though amounts around a quarter of an inch will be expected; especially for areas west of I-75. This will leave wet roads for the morning commute, but ponding roads will be limited with minor impacts.

Friday is a cooler day with more clouds than sun with rain ending but temperatures staying in the low 60s. There will be breezy gusts up to 25 miles per hour, but nothing disruptive expected. The weekend will be dry with a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s and lows in the upper 30s and low 40s. Sunday morning may see the potential for patchy frost in rural areas, but no widespread impacts are expected.

Monday is Earth Day and conditions will be pleasant. Areas of light patchy frost will be possible in rural areas Monday morning, but temperatures will warm into the mid 60s with abundant sunshine in the afternoon. Tuesday will have increasing clouds with a few showers developing in the evening, but will move out of the Ohio Valley before Wednesday - which will be sunny and seasonable! Unsettled weather is in the forecast with showers and a few storms by the end of next week and will continue through the rest of April. Hopefully this may bring May flowers?
