Luis Enrique: 'It's up to us to create chances'

Speaking yesterday, Luis Enrique discussed how today's match might unfold tactically: "We want to play our game, with pressure. Barca can use long balls to (Robert) Lewandowski and put us under pressure. It's up to us to come out and create chances. Barcelona will also use the back line to cause us problems. I think the game will be similar, with goals on both sides."

Hakimi on Luis Enrique's philosophy

Speaking yesterday, Achraf Hakimi spoke about the influence of Luis Enrique and his history with Barcelona: "Our coach knows Barca very well. We've been told a lot about the players, and I think everyone knows their qualities. Now we need to know their weaknesses. I think we have a similar style of play to them.

"But the danger doesn't just come from Raphinha, they have some very good players and we all have to control them well. We have to win the challenges so that they don't have any freedom on the ball.

"Luis Enrique tries to set up different movements. I find myself in several positions and I think that's a good thing for me. I can see the game in different ways and help the team in different ways.

"I think the idea of wanting to dominate the opposition throughout the game and create space through these different movements is the difference we've seen compared to the last two seasons. The coach's ideas are very clear and we see that in every game."

Tonight marks Luis Enrique's first visit to Barcelona as an opposing manager since he led the club between 2014 and 2017.

During his time as Barca boss, he won eight trophies including the Champions League in 2015. He also played for the club for eight years, from 1996 to 2004.

Given his deep roots with the club, he should expect a warm reception in Catalonia tonight.

But things won't stay as friendly if he manages to lead Paris Saint-Germain to a come-from-behind victory. He has shown a knack for doing so, having been Barca's manager in 2017 when they pulled off the famous 'La Remontada' comeback against PSG...

Could this be Mbappe's final Champions League game for PSG?

Could this be Mbappe's final Champions League game for PSG?

With Kylian Mbappe finally set to depart Paris Saint-Germain this summer after several years of intimations in that direction, this is his last chance to win the Champions League with the team of his home city.

Barcelona did an impressive job of stymying his creative talents in the first leg, keeping him off the score sheet and limiting his influence.

He'll have to find a way to make a bigger impact tonight if he is to lead PSG to European glory in a storybook finish for his time with the club.

Xavi: 'PSG will come out attacking'

Speaking yesterday, Xavi discussed what it will take for his side to advance to the tournament's final four: "We will have to show a lot of personality to get to the semi-finals.

"We will have to control ourselves and take the initiative but it will be tough. PSG will come out attacking because Luis Enrique will not sit back. I know him well and I know they will put us under a lot of pressure. We are up against one of best teams in the world, one of the most intense and they won't gift us anything, and he is one of the best coaches in the world.

"Tomorrow's match is about footballers and not about coaches. Let's hope they are inspired because it will depend on them."

Luis Enrique: 'We are convinced that we will turn the situation around'

Speaking yesterday, Luis Enrique discussed his side's frame of mind heading into today's match: "I think the result of the first game doesn't really reflect what we deserved, because we could have equalised.

"Every player on my team wants to win. Paris have never been able to qualify after losing in the first leg at home, but tomorrow will be the day we do it and qualify. We are convinced that we will turn the situation around.

"We fall, we get back up. That's what top-level sport is all about."

Opta says Barca are clear favourites

According to Opta's predictions model, Barcelona are clear favourites to advance to the semi-finals today, with a 76 per cent likelihood of being the victors compared to Paris Saint-Germain's 24 per cent.

Across the four quarter-finals, that's the heaviest advantage Opta predicts. Amongst the other favourites, Opta puts Manchester City and Atletico Madrid each at 65 per cent, and Bayern Munich at 52 per cent.

Xavi praises Raphinha

Xavi praises Raphinha

Speaking yesterday, Xavi heaped praise on Raphinha, who scored two of Barcelona's goals in the first leg: "Raphinha has been very important for us this season not only with goals and assists but also from a defensive point of view. He’ll be a key player for us tomorrow.

"How can I motivate two players like Lamine (Yamal) and (Pau) Cubarsí for tomorrow’s game? They always ask questions and they are always involved in everything. It’s a Champions League night. They don’t need any extra motivation."

Barcelona come into today's match with a one-goal lead courtesy of their 3-2 win in Paris last week.

Raphinha capitalised on an error by Gianluigi Donnarumma to open the scoring late in the first half, but Paris Saint-Germain took control after the half-time break.

Goals from Vitinha and former Barca man Ousmane Dembele in the first five minutes of the second half flipped the game on its head and gave PSG a 2-1 lead, but it wouldn't last long as Raphinha scored his second of the night on a fine volley to level the match.

With the game hanging in the balance, substitute Andreas Christensen headed home a corner (pictured above) with his very first touch in the 77th minute to secure the first-leg win.

Tonight's other quarter-final

At the same time as this match, Borussia Dortmund will be hosting Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their quarter-final tie.

Atletico hold a 2-1 advantage from the first leg in Spain, but that lead could have easily been a few goals more.

What's at stake

Barcelona are hoping to reach the Champions League semi-finals for the first time since 2019 and the 13th time overall. Only Real Madrid, who have been semi-finalists 16 times, have reached the final four on more occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, are looking to reach the semi-finals for the first time since 2021 and the third time overall.

Pedri excited to be fully fit again

Speaking yesterday, Pedri referenced the injury layoff he dealt with before returning to action in the first leg as he looked ahead to today's match: "The team is very eager and excited to face this game. Personally, I come from a bad time, but I'm very excited to be back.

"When I go onto the pitch I can't help thinking how lucky I am that I no longer have to worry about the injuries that I've had."

The big news for Paris Saint-Germain is the return of Achraf Hakimi, who was suspended for the first leg in Paris.

The only injury question is the availability of Nordi Mukiele, who is recovering from a head injury.

Presnel Kimpembe, Layvin Kurzawa and Sergio Rico remain long-term absentees.

With Pedri and Frenkie de Jong returning from injury layoffs in the first leg, Barcelona's only injury concerns are Gavi and Alejandro Balde, both are whom are expected to miss the rest of the season.

They are, however, without Sergi Roberto and Andreas Christensen today, both missing out due to yellow-card accumulation suspensions.

Hakimi: 'We're looking to turn it around'

Achraf Hakimi, who missed the first leg due to suspension, spoke yesterday about how his team has prepared for today's match: "My first instinct after the first leg was to push the group and help the team prepare for the return leg. I think we played a good game even if we didn't manage to win it. We talked to each other and motivated each other. We've worked hard and stayed united. Tomorrow, it's time to give it everything we've got and go for the win.

"We're coming here with a lot of drive. We're looking to turn it around and bring victory back to Paris. We're highly motivated and we're really looking forward to tomorrow's game. We want to bring home the win for the fans."
