Former Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton’s free agency period is coming to a quick end.

Boynton is expected to join the coaching staff at Michigan as an assistant coach, CBS Sports reported Tuesday night. According to the report, Boynton has multiple opportunities at the Power Six level. But new Wolverines coach Dusty May has made Boynton a top priority.

Boynton was fired by OSU on March 14 after seven seasons leading the Cowboys. OSU was 119-109 overall and 51-75 in Big 12 play under Boynton. The Cowboys were 12-20 overall and 4-14 in Big 12 play last season.

OSU named Western Kentucky’s Steve Lutz its new head coach on Monday.
