Serena Williams Admits She Has Interest in Purchasing WNBA Team in Future

Serena Williams already holds stakes in the soccer club Angel City FC and the golf club Los Angeles Golf Club. Now she says she may invest in a WNBA team in the future.

The retired tennis legend told CNN that women's sports are “an overly safe bet to me when it comes to investing.” Williams didn't specify any timeline of when she would potentially purchase a stake in a team, but she's definitely keeping the idea open.

“I absolutely would be (interested)," Williams said. "With the right market, I would definitely be super interested in that."

If Williams keeps the trend of purchasing stakes in Los Angeles-based teams, she would have to invest in the Los Angeles Sparks.

Williams is very interested in entrepreneurship, especially since retiring from tennis after the 2022 U.S. Open. Her company Serena Ventures has invested in 66 startups, with 78% of those being led by women and people of color.
