HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu Ocean Safety rescued four people Monday in waters off Waikiki after their boat ran aground.
Officials said the 35-foot vessel ran aground at around 11:40 a.m. near the surf break known as Rockpiles.
Lifeguards responded on Jet Ski within minutes and brought the men back to shore. First responders said no one was hurt.
The DLNR’s Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation is currently working to contact the owner of the boat and is working with the U.S. Coast Guard to determine if any fuel is onboard.
In the meantime, officials ask the public to stay away from the vessel as it remains grounded on the reef.
