Summer camp registration
Registration is open for summer camps at the Dewey, Doris Miller and South Waco community centers.

Camps are open to kids ages 5-13 and will include educational and recreational activities, arts and crafts, games, field trips and more. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Camps will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Registration fee is $90 per child. Session No. 1 will run June 3-28 and costs $300. Session No. 2 will run July 1-26 and costs $300. Session No. 3 will run July 29-Aug. 9 and costs $150.
NARFE meeting
The Waco Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at noon Thursday in the conference room at the West Waco Library, 5301 Bosque Blvd. All active and retired federal employees are invited.

‘Little Baron’s on Safari’
The Cattle Baron’s Ball of Central Texas will hold “Little Baron’s on Safari” from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Cameron Park Zoo, 1701 N. Fourth St.
Proceeds will support pediatric cancer research.
The family-friendly event will include entrance into the zoo, food, drinks, face painting, animal encounters, an art project and more.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for ages 3-12 or $80 for a family four pack.

Women’s Clubs 125th
Waco Federation of Women’s Club, 2900 Bosque Blvd., will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The free event will include refreshments, a city proclamation and a tour of the house.
Therapy fundraiser
Focus ABA Therapy will hold a fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Skate Waco, 401 Towne Oaks Drive, to assist families with therapy costs.
Proceeds go toward the Focus Grant Program, set up for families of children with autism that need assistance with the cost of therapy.

Sheriff talk
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara will speak during a Baylor Lifelong Learning group meeting Friday at the Mayborn Museum, 1300 S. University Parks Drive.
Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., and McNamara will speak at 10 on his personal story and the county’s efforts against human trafficking.

Great Waco Cleanup
The Great Waco Cleanup will run from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday as part of Keep America Beautiful’s Great American Cleanup.
Keep Waco Beautiful will host five locations, one in each of Waco’s five city council districts, and is seeking volunteers to sigh up for the event.
The event is available for families, organizations and individuals of any age. Individual registration is required. Some sites require moderate mobility.

‘Waco: A Fantastical History’
Author Ashley Bean Thornton and illustrator Vicki Northern will sign copies of their book, “Waco: A Fantastical History,” from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Waco-McLennan County Central Library meeting room, 1717 Austin Ave.
Books are $15 to purchase, and free “Fantastical Waco” stickers will be distributed with the first 100 purchases.
Cooking with Friends class
The McLennan County AgriLife Extension Service will hold a Cooking with Friends class from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the local Extension office, 4224 Cobbs Drive.

Spring Fest
Bruceville-Eddy Family Spring Fest will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 144 Wilcox Drive in Bruceville-Eddy.
The day will start with a parade at 9 a.m. There will be food and vendors, pony rides, lawnmower and power wheel races and a dog show, as well as a cake walk and corn hole tournament.
Fly fishing fair
The Texas Council of Fly Fishers International will hold a fly fishing fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Brazos Park East, 3516 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. A fly fishing tournament also will run from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event will include classes and presentations on fly fishing, fly tying, fly casting, rigging and more.
There will be five drawings for a raffle, as well as food trucks and other activities.

Seedling giveaway
Waco Friends of the Climate will distribute 400 free red mulberry seedlings at the Waco Downtown Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 500 Washington Ave.
The seedlings are intended to serve as a carbon sink, reduce the urban heat island effect, help clean the air, promote biodiversity, reduce soil erosion and provide human relaxation.
