Cloudy with a brief rain chance today

The Latest Northeast Wisconsin Forecast from Storm Team 5…

Showers from yesterday exited overnight and left us with cloudy skies. Most areas over the last 48 hours totaled between 0.5 to near 2.0in of rainfall near central WI, and more is on the way today.

There is a patch of clearer skies moving over portions of our quadrant of Wisconsin, so if that can hold, we could see a few rays of sun early. Sadly, cloudy skies will fill in quickly after sunrise. Shower activity is expected to move in during the late morning and early afternoon mainly Green Bay and southward. Any showers should be light to moderate and wont be lasting all day long. Total rain today will be a trace up north to near a quarter of an inch in our southern sections. Highs today I’ve trended a bit cooler compared to my forecast yesterday, only reaching the low to mid 50s.

Overnight, look for skies to clear and temperatures to cool back into the mid 30s as a cold front begins to cool us down. Winds will pick up as well to near 20mph.

We will start with sunshine for Friday, but increasing clouds are expected throughout the day. Cold air above the surface and some instability will allow for a passing flurry, but pretty much the day will be dry. Winds will be the big story, gusting to 35-40mph.

The weekend starts partly cloudy and windy Saturday but high pressure moves in Sunday and warms us up to near 60 and even warmer Monday. Next rain chance after today is Tuesday.
