Photo: Mike Carlson/Getty An arrest warrant has been issued for the Kansas City Chiefs player Rashee Rice in connection to a six-vehicle crash that occurred in Dallas on March 30. The Dallas Police Department issued the warrant for the North Texas native, 23, on Wednesday, April 10. One was also issued for 21-year-old Theodore Knox, who was also involved in the crash. PEOPLE reached out to Rice’s attorney for comment but did not immediately hear back. The NFL player faces eight felony charges in the case — six counts of collision involving bodily injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault, according to the arrest warrant, WFAA reports. Norm Hall/Getty Knox is charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six counts of collision involving injury. Neither is in police custody at this time, per the police department. In an investigation conducted by the DPD, authorities determined that on March 30, the wide receiver had been driving a Lamborghini while Knox was in a Corvette, which was leased in Rice's name. Both are alleged to have been speeding in the left lane of North Central Expressway near University Boulevard. Two individuals were treated at the scene of the accident by Dallas Fire Rescue for minor injuries. Two others were transported to a hospital for minor injuries. “Rashee is cooperating with local authorities and will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly," his attorney, Texas senator Royce West, previously said in a statement to PEOPLE. David Eulitt/Getty On April 3, the pro athlete used his Instagram Stories to apologize for his part in the high-speed accident. “Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s incident,” he wrote. “I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities.” “I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident," he concluded. The passengers who were in the Corvette and Lamborghini will not be charged, the DPD said, according to CBS News. Rice joined the Chiefs during the 2023 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he helped the Chiefs win the 2024 Super Bowl in February. The organization has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.
