1 dead, 1 injured in Tuolumne County shooting

The Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a person was shot dead and another person was wounded by gunfire near Long Barn.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 10:10 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Long Barn Road near Circle Drive. While arriving on scene, they heard additional gunshots and a second victim was reported injured.
On arrival, deputies ordered multiple people out of a residence, and James West, 69, of Long Barn, was taken into custody. They then entered the residence and found two people had been shot. One man later identified as Joseph Barbalinardo Jr., 62, of Long Barn, was pronounced dead on the scene. A second person was airlifted to a hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.
West was booked Thursday morning in the Dambacher Detention Center on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder.
