The Faculty Forward Fellowship, now in its sixth year, is a faculty professional development program offered by the Whiting School of Engineering's Center for Learning Design and Technology. This distinguished program provides faculty members across Johns Hopkins University with a comprehensive platform to enhance their teaching techniques and extend their educational influence. By integrating both online and in-person elements, the fellowship has become a key component of faculty development at the university.
Program participants will embark on a mixed-format curriculum, starting with a four-week asynchronous online course on June 17, requiring 7-10 hours per week. There are also two synchronous sessions. The initial synchronous session is on June 22, available both in person in Baltimore and online via Zoom, concluding with another Zoom session on July 17.
The fellowship features an optional keynote on June 21 offering both in-person and virtual attendance, by Dr. Michelle Miller, author of Remembering and Forgetting in the Age of Technology: Teaching, Learning, and the Science of Memory in a Wired World. On-site fellowship participants attending the keynote will enjoy a welcome reception and dinner. Miller will join us again to lead an additional workshop in our synchronous session on June 22. Each participant will receive a copy of Miller's book before the start of the program.
