19-year-old second suspect charged with murder in fatal Russell shooting
A second suspect has been charged with murder in connection to a deadly shooting in the Russell neighborhood last year.
Arlo Whitehead, 19, was arrested on Monday and charged with murder in the shooting of Darwin Morgan.
The shooting happened at 26th and W Madison streets on June 26.
Police were called to the scene and found Morgan with a gunshot wound to his head. Morgan was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to court records, surveillance video captured Whitehead driving the vehicle involved in the shooting. Records go on to say that Whitehead was stopped the next day and told police that 18-year-old Samuel Crowder, Jr., was one of the people who shot Morgan.
LMPD arrested Crowder in August last year, charging him with murder as well. He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
Whitehead is scheduled to be arraigned in court Tuesday at 9 a.m.
