A Kingsport man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after a shooting on Tuesday evening, according to the Kingsport Police Department.

The Kingsport Police Department said that Samuel Murphy, 41, has been arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and felony reckless endangerment.

Police said that on Tuesday, officers responded to the 1100 block of Cherry Street to reported gunfire.

When they arrived, they said a man had a gunshot wound to his left ear.

When at the scene, police said they learned Murphy had shown up at that residence and shot the man in the ear.

Police said they obtained an arrest warrant for Murphy and later arrested him in a hotel in Johnson City on Wednesday.
