In-State WR Returns to Clemson, Has ‘High Interest’ in Tigers

By

There’s plenty of mutual interest between Clemson and this standout in-state pass catcher who recently traveled to Tiger Town for the second time this spring.

After attending Clemson’s March 9 junior day, Ridge View High School (Columbia, S.C.) class of 2026 wide receiver Jordon Gidron was back on campus for the April 6 spring game.

“It was really good,” Gidron said of the spring game visit in an interview with The Clemson Insider. “Got to go down, watch the game, got to talk to Coach (Tyler) Grisham after, to see some of the players like (Bryant) Wesco and Antonio Williams play, and that was pretty good.”

Wesco, the highly touted true freshman receiver, shined in the spring game at Death Valley and dazzled with an impressive over-the-shoulder catch in the end zone for the first touchdown of the contest.

Gidron pointed to Wesco’s performance when asked what stood out most to him about the spring game.

“I would probably say how good Wesco did as a freshman coming in,” Gidron said. “He did real good. Just kind of the overall receiver projection, and just seeing him come in as a freshman and do good in their program.”

As Gidron mentioned above, the spring game visit gave him the chance to catch up with Grisham, the Tigers’ receivers coach.

“He just said I’m at the top of his list for the class of 2026s,” Gidron said, “and told me to keep working and he definitely wants to keep building the connection, and I’m just at the top of his list.”

Gidron, who also visited Clemson for the North Carolina game last November, is very high on the Tigers as well.

“I’ve definitely got a high interest,” he said. “They don’t offer till junior year, but I’m definitely interested in their program. I like what Coach Grisham and Coach Swinney are doing.”

Gidron said he may return to Clemson this summer, possibly to compete at the Dabo Swinney Camp.

What does the 6-foot-2, 185-pound rising junior want to show the Tigers’ staff about his game as a receiver if he works out at the camp?

“Just show them my speed, my route-running, my ability to create separation and just how good I am at the game,” he said.

As a sophomore in 2023, Gidron grabbed 45 passes for 731 yards and 10 touchdowns in nine games.

Ole Miss, Auburn and Alabama offered Gidron earlier this month, joining schools such as Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, NC State, Duke, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma on his offer list.

Clemson will start dishing out class of 2026 offers this summer, and Gidron feels an offer from the Tigers would impact his recruitment “a lot” should he receive one.

“They’re definitely one of the schools on the top of my list, and I’ve always watched them and seen how good their receivers do,” he said. “So, that would definitely be a great school to get an offer from.”
