Utah Valley University is a large public school in Orem, UT, that operates with a unique “dual mission” model to combine the resources and rigor of a major university with the accessibility of a community college. UVU’s dual mission and origins as a vocational school are reflected in its student body: 80% of students work while enrolled, 30% are over 25 years old and 37% are first generation. Students at UVU can choose from 90 undergraduate degrees, with popular programs in business, psychology and visual and performing arts. The UVU Wolverines compete in NCAA Division 1 athletics in the Western Athletic Conference. Students can join a range of groups from hiking clubs to a rodeo team. Incoming freshmen who graduated high school with a GPA of 3.9 or higher, and who have high standardized testing scores can qualify for the full tuition Presidential Scholarship.
