Henry Cavill poked fun at his own misfortune during a recent premiere of his latest feature The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

The actor addressed his appearance in the post-credits scenes of Black Adam and the box office flop King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.

“Turns out, I don’t have much luck with post-credit scenes,” he joked, per Insider. “So, I may give up on those.”

Indeed, the last time he appeared in a post-credits scene was in the 2022 superhero blockbuster Black Adam, which unexpectedly marked the last time we saw Cavill as DC’s Superman. The scene was meant to set up a new storyline for Superman where he would eventually face off against Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.

Cavill even confirmed that he would be reprising his role in a post on social media shortly after, writing, “I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman … Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

But the studio parted ways with Cavill after  James Gunn and Peter Safran took over as co-CEOs of DC and decided to go in a different direction with the hero.

Instead, DC recast the role with a younger Clark Kent and Lois Lane, played by David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan.

Safran has revealed that Superman: Legacy will focus on a younger Superman “balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.” Some reports also claim that the studio is hoping to focus on a group of 20-somethings in Metropolis.

Superman: Legacy will be directed by James Gunn, who previously directed all three of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies and Suicide Squad. Filming is already underway.

Superman: Legacy is tentatively slated to be released on July 11, 2025.
