Who will the Dolphins take in the 2024 NFL Draft? Latest seven-round mock draft for Miami

The Miami Dolphins reached the playoffs for the second consecutive year in 2023 and likely would have been content to run it back with only minor changes to the roster. But then the salary cap and free agency got in the way, creating for a busy time for general manager Chris Grier. And putting a bigger onus on making Miami's draft picks count.

Dolphins mock draft

Offensively, the Dolphins have needs on the interior offensive line and receiver, pending a decision by Odell Beckham Jr. to possibly become Miami's No. 3 behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Defensively, Miami needs help on the defensive line (edge and tackle) and safety (Jordan Poyer will soon turn 33).

Round 1, Pick 21: Laiatu Latu, edge, UCLA

Even after Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb rebound from injuries, you can't have too many good pass rushers. Latu's career has followed the footsteps of Phillips. The thing to sweat here: Pick No. 20. The Steelers pick right before the Dolphins and word is they might be delighted to snatch him from Miami's fingertips.

Round 2, Pick 55: Rule Orhorhoro, defensive tackle, Clemson

What better way to replace Christian Wilkins than with another Clemson Tiger? Orhorhoro is a good run-stopper. Miami doesn't have a ton of them.

Round 5, Pick 158: Tyler Davis, defensive tackle, Clemson

If it's true one man can't replace Wilkins, how 'bout two Tigers? Pro Football Focus gives Davis especially high grades against the run, just like Orhorhoro.

Round 6, Pick 184: Luke McCaffrey, receiver, Rice

We'll admit it: Part of this pick is because of the last name. But we're talking Round 6 here. Why not roll the dice? At least we know he comes from a fine family mold of football talent.

Round 6, Pick 198: Hunter Nourzad, center, Penn State

He rises to the occasion against top competition. Versatile, having also played right tackle and left guard in college. And the guy earned an engineering degree before transferring from Cornell, so he has the smarts to call the signals.

Round 7, Pick 241: Taulia Tagovailoa, quarterback, Maryland

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa.

Wut? Who? The Dolphins' backup quarterback spot is up in the air down the road with Mike White a free agent next spring. Skylar Thompson never got off the bench in 2023. Talk about the buzz the Dolphins would have, and how interesting it would be, to have Tua's brother in the meeting room with him.
