We'll be back tomorrow with coverage of Manchester United v Everton and West Ham v Brighton in the WSL, while you can also watch the League Cup final live on BBC Two from 15:00 GMT.

For now, I'll leave you with our reports from both games. Click the scores below to read each one:

  2. 'We had a mad 10 minutes and it was then game over'

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Matt Beard speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we started the game really well. I thought we were the dominant team. We have had a mad 10 minutes after we conceded the first goal and then you have a mountain to climb against teams like Manchester City. It is frustrating but you can't give the opportunities like we did against them.

"We put them under pressure but never really got back into the game. We put them in a block, stepped onto it and forced them into turnovers but we need to make sure when we get our opportunities we take them. We have had four set-plays where we have not beaten the first player and we just need to be a little bit better at that.

"The game is over at 3-0 against a team like Man City. I am pleased with what we created and chances we had but as I say, it was damage limitation and then we conceded straight after half-time so it's frustrating."

On Taylor Hinds' return: "To lose Jas and Niamh, I think we definitely lost Niamh's leadership today but it's great to have Taylor back and it's a great finish.

On the title race: "I think they will win it. I think they deserve to win it and they have been the best team this year. I think Gareth has done a great job."

  3. Post update

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

Jess Park has contributed to goals in her last 3 games in the Women's Super League (3 goals, 2 assists).

  4. 'The lead is three points only'

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor speaking to Sky Sports: "It was very good. At times some phenomenal play from us. I thought we were excellent in how we managed the game. We kept the passes short when we needed to and got in behind. Some fabulous goals. I know Bunny's was an unbelievable strike and there were some good goals. The second goal was magic for us in terms of everting we try to do and to finish it off really well was good by Jess.

"It is a really good result from us today. This is a tough place to come. We silenced the crowd and the crowd get behind them as well. So happy to send ours off home with this lead we have at the top of the league which is great."

On Liverpool's goal: "We always have high standards in that and we have worked so hard on that. Taylor Hinds hits a goal that she probably wouldn't hit like that again. Some of those goals have had to be worldies to beat us because the rest of the time we looked really comfortable today."

On the significance of today's win: "It's big. I think I always look at the performance being the catalyst for what we do and win games. It is nice to be in this position and it's three points only. We know what we have to do between now and the end of the season and we know what others can do. We have the international break now and then we will look forward to West Ham at home."

  5. Post update

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

Manchester City are top of the Women's Super League, but how frustrated will they be by the fact they didn't win by a bigger margin?

Any win for Chelsea - who have scored more goals - in their game in hand would take them back to the top of the table.

    WSL top six
  6. 'Let them chase us'

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City striker Khadija Shaw speaking to Sky Sports: "Like I have always said, I try and do the best that I can to help the team and they give me the ball, so if I don't score they will be on top of me. I just try and get myself in the best possible position to score and help the team."

On her stunning second goal: "I would have to see it back. I just think that when the ball bobbled up on me I thought 'I am going to take this shot' and then I saw it nestle in the top corner. Overall, it was a good goal and I am happy.

"We said we wanted to go into the international break being top of the league and put on pressure. We said 'let them chase us'. Overall it was a great performance."

  7. 'We wanted to win in the right way'

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Mary Fowler speaking to Sky Sports: "We are really happy. We wanted to come here and get the win and get it in the right way and I think we did that today.

"Everyone is on the same page and anyway that I am able to help, I am happy to do that.

"It is annoying [to concede] but that was a banger. If it's a banger it feels a little less worse. They put in a good fight and I think it was good for us to get the goal tally up."

  11. 'City will be slightly disappointed with the second half'

    FT: Liverpool 1-4 Man City

    Courtney Sweetman-Kirk

Sheffield United forward on Sky Sports

For me, it's about context and they were 3-0 up at half-time and when they get that fourth, you expect them to kick on and get more and make that goal difference bigger and I think they will be slightly disappointed they couldn't do that.

  12. FULL-TIME

    Aston Villa 2-2 Leicester

It ends all square in the Midlands.

If you look at the first half to the second, you look at the response and there has been a significant response after the first [from Liverpool].

    Liverpool 1-4 Man City

Well, after the replay it turns out it might not be Taylor Hinds' goal.

Khiara Keating pushed the initial effort onto the crossbar and the rebound deflected off the City keeper's back and into the net.

  20. Post update

    Liverpool 1-4 Man City

Manchester City really need the goal difference if they're to win the title race - that won't help.

A win for Chelsea in their game in hand would take Chelsea above City in the table now.
